redesigning Cornell's waste-sorting experience.
Taylor studies marine conservation ecology within Environmental and Sustainability Sciences, but researches how and what we discard on campus. She became interested in Cornell's waste system after being certified as a Master Composter of Tomkins County in 2015. Later that year she joined WasteNot and helped co-found and direct the student organization Cornell Thrift, to help address components of the huge material waste problem on campus. She leads the research and project coordination efforts for the team.

Irene is a senior in Design and Environmental Analysis who believes that research and design work hand in hand. Irene joined WasteNot in 2015 and since then, has been inspired by the team and its mission. She is excited by WasteNot's multidisciplinary approach of studying existing behaviors toward waste management to inform design interventions. She hopes that WasteNot will continue to educate users and ultimately leave a positive mark on Cornell's campus.

Rachel is a freshman in CALS studying Environmental Engineering. She discovered Waste Not in the beginning of the semester, and found that it worked towards clarity of waste organization, a problem of Cornell's she noticed the first time she visited. As a resident of Ecology House on North Campus, Rachel plans on spending her college years learning about solutions to a variety of environmental problems, both inside and outside of the classroom. She's extremely thankful to her fellow Waste Not members for their friendliness and welcoming attitude, and for providing her with real world experience in implementing a change to fix an issue.
Fauna studies sustainable systems and through the lenses of economics and policy. She is interested in waste systems and waste culture - how people think about and interact with waste, and the place it has in our society, and how these things can change. She enjoys strategizing with the team, helping create graphics, and participating in waste audits! She is thankful for the synergy of the team and the beautiful things we create together.
Micah is a master’s student in the department of Design and Environmental Analysis studying sustainable design. Micah’s interest and research regarding waste systems stems from his undergraduate degree and work experience in the field of industrial design. He is thankful to have found WasteNot during his time in Ithaca, given the group’s mission of improving Cornell’s waste systems through research and design. Micah is a part of WasteNot’s design team.
